Getting Started

Getting started with PhotoWeaver is super easy. Just launch the app and it will automatically load all the albums you have stored in your Windows Pictures library.

  • The home screen of the app displays the first eight albums from your library under the Local > section.
  • You can tap on Local > or the See All... icon to see all your albums.
  • Even before you connect with Facebook, Picasa, Flickr or SkyDrive you can:
    • Play slideshow of any of your albums.
    • Select photos for uploading to Facebook, Picasa, Flickr or SkyDrive.
    • Share your photos with friends using the Windows 8 Share charm.
    • Display photos on supported TVs or other devices using the Windows 8 Devices charm.

Accessing your Facebook, Picasa, Flickr or SkyDrive Albums

The first time you run PhotoWeaver you will need to connect to your Facebook, Picasa, Flickr and/or SkyDrive accounts (Steps below only reference Facebook, but also applies to Picasa, Flickr and SkyDrive):

  • Tap the Facebook > section heading or the Click here for Facebook photos icon.
  • On the Login screen that appears (presented by Facebook) enter your credentials.
  • Tap the Log In button.
  • You may be presented with another screen asking you to authorize PhotoWeaver to use your Facebook albums.
  • Tap the Authorize button, and you are done!
PhotoWeaver will start loading your Facebook, Picasa, Flickr or SkyDrive albums as soon as you complete the above steps. You will not be asked for credentials again! (unless, of course you use the Logout option from the Settings charm)

Uploading Photos to Facebook, Picasa, Flickr or SkyDrive

PhotoWeaver makes uploading local photos to Facebook, Picasa, Flickr or SkyDrive really easy.

To upload multiple photos from one or more local albums:
  • Tap the album stack icon for the album you want to upload from.
    • If the desired album is not visible on the home screen, tap the See All icon and then tap the desired album.
  • From the grid of all the pictures in the selected album, use the Windows 8 select gesture (slight downward drag) or Tap the Select Mode button and select using simple taps.
  • You can go back to the list of albums and select more photos from other albums.
  • Once all the photos you want to upload are selected,
    • either tap the icon showing number of selected photos
    • or go to the Special > section on the main page and tap the Selected icon
  • If needed, you can unselect any photos you selected by mistake in the previous steps.
  • Tap the Upload button when you are ready with the final set of photos to upload.
  • PhotoWeaver will ask you to select the Facebook, Picasa, Flickr or SkyDrive album you want to upload to.
    • You can also choose to create a new album on Facebook, Picasa, Flickr or SkyDrive for these photos
  • PhotoWeaver will start uploading your photos as soon as the destination album is selected
While you can use the steps described above to upload a sinlge image, PhotoWeaver also lets you upload the image the image you are viewing in full screen mode:
  • Tap the album you want to upload from.
  • Tap the photo you want to upload.
  • Tap the Upload button on the App bar
  • PhotoWeaver will ask you to select the Facebook, Picasa, Flickr or SkyDrive album you want to upload to.
    • You can also choose to create a new album on Facebook, Picasa, Flickr or SkyDrive for these photos
  • PhotoWeaver will start uploading your photos as soon as the destination album is selected
